Columbia Indexing was founded in 2004 by Jen Burton. Jen has been indexing since 1999 and managing teams of indexers since 2002. Her favorite subjects are art and politics, but she loves the variety of indexing in every field. She earned a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Eckerd College and an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John's College.
Marianna Wackerman had been indexing since 1998 and working with Columbia Indexing since its founding. She enjoys indexing college textbooks, medical books, and reference books. Marianna graduated from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside with a B.A. in Business Administration. She also completed coursework in editing and proofreading at George Washington University.
Lisa Waters has been indexing since 2001 and working with Columbia Indexing since 2005. Although a generalist, Lisa particularly enjoys indexing popular culture, technology, and humanities. She holds a B.A. in Literature from Eckerd College and an M.S. in Publishing Studies from New York University.
Anne-Marie Downey has been an indexer for more than a decade. She has been working with Columbia Indexing since 2005. She specializes in medical indexing, but works on a variety of topics, including government and politics, education, and science. Anne-Marie is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds degrees in journalism and political science. She spent her early career writing and editing for newspapers in the South and Midwest.
Columbia Indexing also contracts the services of several other experienced indexers as needed to maintain a diverse and available pool of talent. The combined experience of our associated indexers offers our clients a breadth of knowledge and depth of specialization that allows us to take on any subject and ensure quality indexes.
